Teylor Jo Author Bio Pic

Teylor Jo

Location: Abilene, Texas (Camden, Maine for the summer)

Her Music Picks: Fleetwood Mac, Mumford & Sons, The Avett Brothers, George Ezra, The Lumineers, Tove Lo, Brandi Carlile, Hozier, The Strumbellas, Lorde, Alanis Morissette, Rise Against, Cold War Kids, The Head and the Heart, Sheryl Crow, Wilco, Vance Joy, The Civil Wars, The Fray, Dawes, Of Monsters and Men, Houndmouth, Noah Gunderson, Taylor Swift (I have loved her since I was 10 and I will never go back).

Where She’s Been: Everywhere I’ve had the possible opportunity and means to go. My favorite areas are Asheville, NC; Chattanooga, TN; Austin, TX; Savannah, GA; Portland, ME; and Santa Fe, NM.

Where She Wants to Go: I’ll go anywhere. Anywhere. But I do have particular interests in…New York City, San Francisco, New Orleans, Charleston, Portland, OR, the Grand Canyon, the Appalachian Trail, all the National Parks, IRELAND, ITALY, ARGENTINA, INDONESIA, and AUSTRALIA. But like I said, anywhere.

Her Food Picks: Bananas and orange juice, judge me.

Her Book Picks: Atonement, Brooklyn, Breakfast of Champions, Spring and All, Wild, White Noise, Fight Club, A Walk in the Woods, every Harry Potter, the This I Believe series, and anything by John Green, Jane Austen, or Ralph Waldo Emerson. I’m an English major so I could go on and on…and on and on and on but I’ll stop here, for your sake.

Her Film/TV Picks: I am a sucker for movies that make me feel way too much. A League of Their Own, Dead Poets Society, The Breakfast Club, Atonement, Into the Wild, A Testament of Youth, Titanic, Fight Club, Copenhagen, Perks of Being a Wallflower, My Girl, August Rush, Stuck in Love, Little Miss Sunshine,  any adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and practically any war movie. My mom raised me on Friends, Beverly Hills 90210 and Criminal Minds. I raised my mom on Lost, New Girl, Supernatural, The Walking Dead, Gilmore Girls, The Office and anything on ABC Family or Disney Channel. I’m not sorry at all; we both turned out pretty good.

What She’s Working Towards: Mainly, trying not to be a lazy human being. I’m smack in the middle of my one-turned-two year(s) off college at the University of Georgia. Why a two year gap? I saw my life moving too fast. I wanted to make sure to take in the world as it was for me at 20 years old. And one turned out not to be enough. When I head back to college, I’ll be at the University of North Georgia. There, I’ll be double majoring in Sociology and English with a Concentration in Writing and Publication. But for now and the next year, I’m focusing on myself, my writing, and my relationships to my friends, my family, and the world around me.

Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee

Her Music Picks: Wilco, Coldplay, John Mayer, Foo Fighters, The Avett Brothers, The Beatles, Cage the Elephant, The Black Keys, The Head and the Heart, Shakey Graves, Modest Mouse, The Lumineers, Jack White, Kings of Leon, Band of Horses, The Kooks, Lorde, Mac DeMarco, Gary Clark Jr., Neutral Milk Hotel, Moon Taxi, The Strokes, Jake Bugg, Gregory Alan Isakov, Radiohead, Nirvana, The Districts, The Strokes, Jack Johnson… Listing everything is impossible… I like music a little.

Where She’s Been: I try to take every opportunity to explore new places that I can. So far internationally I have been to Ireland (I tear up just thinking about it), London, Canada (if that counts?) and passed through Wales. I’ve lived in Chattanooga my entire life, so I take frequent trips to Nashville, which is definitely one of my favorite places. I’ve been to Texas, D.C. and various cities across the South, my favorite being Savannah, GA.

Where She Wants to Go: EVERYWHERE! Within the United States, I hope to explore Portland, OR; Seattle, WA, anywhere in Colorado and Montana, The Grand Canyon, Yosemite, New Orleans, and NYC. Outside of the US: Australia, New Zealand, China, Thailand, Russia, and ALL of Europe. Essentially, everywhere.

Her Food Picks: I run on coffee and anything edible.

Her Book Picks: I love reading but I have a terrible habit of starting books and not finishing them. I tend to stick to reading Rolling Stones and other music/entertainment journals and attempt to conquer an entire novel when I can. As an English major, this is a bit contradicting…

Her Film/TV Picks: Film, it’s Pride and Prejudice, every Harry Potter, anything by Wes Anderson, Napoleon Dynamite, Hot Rod, Across the Universe, Fight Club, The Other Guys, The Big Lebowski, The Breakfast Club, Despicable Me (no shame), Into the Wild, Inside Llewyn Davis, Perks of Being a Wallflower, Silver Linings Playbook, The Princess Bride… once again, I love everything. Ugh. TV, it’s Portlandia, How I Met Your Mother, Friends, The Office, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Workaholics, That 70’s Show,  New Girl, Seinfeld, The Late Show w/ Steven Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel Live. I also love watching documentaries, NHL games (Go Preds), and EPL matches (COYS).

What She’s Working Towards: I’m finishing up my senior year of high school which means I’m actually trying to finish my college classes at Dalton State (because I somehow decided that starting college early was a good idea). I plan on spending one more semester there and then transferring to the University of North Georgia and majoring in English with a Concentration in Writing and Publications (that’s the plan for now at least). I fully intend on becoming a music and entertainment journalist. My absolute favorite activities are attending live shows, traveling, experiencing new things, and writing… so I’m trying to get paid to do so. Aside from a career, I plan on being happy and adventurous. People in general constantly evolve; I just hope to make the best of myself.
